I would like to take the time to take the NGWA exam to be a Certified Well Driller (CWD) and Certified Pump Installer (CPI). After 25 years in the water well industry, I have much experience to draw from, but finding the time while I run my small business is a challenge.

GOOD WELL MAINTENANCE MEANS . . .
In Alaska, most wells are cased with steel and cleaning out the iron bacteria in the well becomes necessary. In older wells, the pumps hang on galvanized pipe, creating an environment for rust to form. We can go in and brush the casing, allowing us to airlift the sediment out.
THE MOST DIFFICULT HURDLE REGARDING WELL MAINTENANCE?
Because people can’t see into their well, they don’t understand the level of rust or sediment that may be in it and so don’t understand the value of well cleaning.

We talk honestly with our customers on the challenges wells in Alaska encounter. Many times, sharing pictures of previous cleaning jobs helps them to understand the need for well cleaning.
